Update on Sergio Martinez’ Decision To Fight Again
Will Sergio Martinez fight again, or was his courageous stand against Miguel Cotto in Madison Square Garden last month the last showing for the Argentine hitter?
I posed this question to Team Martinez’ Nathan Lewkowicz. His father Sampson came across Martinez many moons ago, and brought him, excitedly, to NY promoter Lou DIBella. History ensued…And will more history be made, or is that a wrap?
“My father is coming to New York this Sunday,” Nathan told me. “He’s spending a couple days here, and then flying to Spain next week to meet with Sergio. Sergio’s decision on whether or not to fight again will be made after the World Cup is over.”
Sergio’s nation, Argentina, meets the Netherlands today in a Cup semifinal match. The World Cup final is slated for July 13, with the Argentina-Netherlands winner to meet Germany in the finale.
