Video: Wladimir Klitschko Training and Quotes
VIDEO: Wladimir Klitschko Training Camp Footage
Saturday night on HBO Boxing After Dark Wladimir Klitschko faces Samuel Peter in a heavyweight showdown which threatens to breathe life back into heavyweight boxing (HBO, Sep. 24, 10pm ET/PT). It is the power-punching Nigerian Nightmare, Peter, versus the man who was once considered by many in boxing to be the heir apparent, but who now appears to be fighting for his career – Wladimir Klitschko.
Last week Bobby Cassidy of TheSweetScience.com visited Wladimir Klitschko's training camp and captured training footage of the towering Ukrainian as he prepares for what is surely a make or break fight. In addition to capturing footage of Klitschko as he was put through the paces by trainer Emanuel Steward, Cassidy also interviewed Klitschko, Steward and Lou Duva, who promotes Sam Peter.
Some quotes from the video interviews:
Wladimir Klitschko
“Samuel Peter is a strong fighter … physically a very stong fighter … Of course I’m nervous, but in a healthy way.”
Emanuel Steward, Wladimir Klitschko’s trainer
“I think he [Samuel Peter] has good hand speed … for the first round or two. We expect a very strong fighter, very aggressive and good coordination ….We don’t expect him to be slow and clumsy and all of that.”
Lou Duva, who promotes Samuel Peter
“It’s going to be a great fight. I don’t think it’s going to go the limit – somebody is going to get knocked out … I think that Sam is capable of walking right through him [Wladimir Klitschko]. He [Peter] may take a punch to give a punch, and at that time we’ll find out if he can take a punch or not.”
