Ward vs Kovalev 2 Results – Ward Stops Krusher in 8
Ward vs Kovalev 2 Results From Vegas – HBO Boxing rolled out the red carpet this past Saturday night as the Mandalay Bay hosted their latest pay-per-view, headlined by the light heavyweight rematch between Andre Ward and Sergey Kovalev.
The two men fought twelve close rounds this past November and Saturday’s fight started off with a series ofclose rounds that saw Kovalev be the busier fighter while Ward was picking his spots with precision. Kovalev started to tire in the middle rounds and by round eight Kovalev was absorbing body shots and Ward recognized his opponent was hurt. He applied the pressure striking the body at will and Kovalev wilted. Referee Tony Weeks stepped in to stop the fight at the 2:29 mark of round eight. Andre Ward is still your WBA, WBO and IBF world light heavyweight champion.
The WBA world super bantanweight bout between champion Guillermo Rigondeaaux and Moises Flores ended in controversy as the two were tied up and exchanging punches when the bell rang. Rigondeaux landed flush, knocking Flores down and out. After mass confusion the NSAC awarded the fight to Rigondeaux with a further review almost certain for a later date.
Dmitry Bivol barely broke a sweat in his match-up with Cedric Agnew, who was not able to get off many meaningful punches while Bivol poured on the punishment. Agnew seemed to have an eye problem when the referee stepped in to stop it. The win makes Bivol the mandatory challenger for the main event winner.
