Wilder Update
This sounds like it could be the year of the Furys, if indeed this rumor plays out, and cousin Hughie Fury gets a crack at WBC heavyweight champ Deontay Wilder. We already know that long tall Tyson will get his cracks at crowns when he gloves up with acknowledged king of the class Wladimir Klitschko in October.
I checked in with Bronze Bomber co manager and co trainer Jay Deas to sign off on that grapevine chatter, that Hughie was offered a Wilder bout.
“No idea (if Hughie had been contacted),” Deas told me. “Keep in mind matchmakers call us all the time with guys. They throw names out there without any validity whatsoever. Someone might have reached out to Peter (Fury, who trains Hugh and Tyson) but if it didn’t come from me, Al or Shelly (Finkel) it is not viable.”
Ok so it’s a dispatch from Rumorville…
