Wish Him Luck: Roy Jones Fights For Cruiser Crown On May 21
Coach Merk indicates Jones is still number one.
PENSACOLA, Fla. (April 21, 2011) – Legendary eight-time world boxing champion and future hall of famer Roy Jones Jr. is currently training in Northwest Florida for his upcoming fight against Denis Lebedev scheduled for Saturday, May 21 in Moscow, Russia. The fight will be at the Cruiserweight limit of 200 lbs. and is the only title between Middleweight and Heavyweight that has eluded Jones.
During yesterday’s training session, Jones displayed the awesome speed and finesse that made him world famous. At one point, his work on the speed ball was so fast that the camera was simply unable to capture it.
After his training session, Roy stated, “I feel really great at this weight and camp couldn’t be going better. I’m looking forward to going to Russia and showing Lebedev and the rest of the world that Roy Jones, Jr. is still making his mark in the boxing world.”
