Boxing News: Naseem Hamed To Return To Ring
'Prince' Naseem Hamed recently told the Sheffield Star that he plans to return to the boxing ring this summer.
“I've not said anything publicly until now but I am planning to fight again in the summer. We have not selected my opponent but the fight will take place in the Middle East and that is definite.”
Hamed has reportedly been staying in shape, training in his gym in Sheffield, England.
Hamed is one of the highest earning British athletes of all-time, captivating the public imagination with his brash personality, his elaborate ring entrances and his unconventional style both inside and outside the ropes.
The career of the man many boxing fans loved to hate began to unravel after his loss to Marco Antonio Barrera in Las Vegas in 2001. His only appearance in the ring since the loss to Barrera was an uninspiring victory over Manuel Calvo in 2002. The victory over Calvo did little to put his boxing career back on track.
