Oscar De La Hoya Will Attend Boxing Writers Association Dinner on May 6
Former multiple-weight world champion, ring legend, and future Hall of Famer Oscar De La Hoya has announced that he will attend the 86th annual awards banquet of the Boxing Writers Association of America. The affair, honoring the outstanding boxers and boxing journalism of 2010, will be held on May 6, 2011, at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The following evening at the same venue, Manny Pacquiao boxes Shane Mosley.
“With all of Oscar's commitments as a promoter for Golden Boy as well as other endeavors, we are thrilled that he has made attending the dinner a priority,” says BWAA President Jack Hirsch. “His attendance validates just how important this is to the boxing community.”
De La Hoya wholeheartedly agrees with those sentiments. Says Oscar, who was honored as the BWAA's “Fighter of the Year” in 1995, “I'm happy to be a part of such a prestigious event and to be able to mingle with fans and boxing people in attendance. I look forward to participating for many years to come.”
For further information about tickets for the dinner, log onto bwaa.org or contact BWAA event coordinator Gina Andriolo at ginaandcom@aol.com or 917-312-6418.
