Jeff Page Jr. Wins First American Boxing Association Title
AMERICAN BOXING ASSOCIATION AWARDS FIRST ALL-AMERICAN TITLE
WICHITA, KS — June 21, 2014 — History was made in Wichita Saturday as Jeff Page, Jr. defeated Dominique Alexander to win the American Boxing Association’s Light Heavyweight All American Title. Page is the inaugural champion for the American Boxing Association. Scheduled for ten rounds, it took all of six for Page to knockout Alexander to win the title.
“This is an exciting day for the American Boxing Association, and for all of America,” said ABA president Dean Smith. “This is historical – a really big day in boxing and in America. There has never been a true, all American Champion. Jeff is the first.” Smith also had kind words for the promoter of the contest, SKC Promotions. “They were great to work with, and we hope to do another event with SKC in the future.”
ABA Vice President Juan Curiel supervised the bout. “Both fighters conducted themselves with such professionalism. I’m proud to have been a part of this historic evening,” said Curiel.
ABA Honorary Champion Riddick Bowe was on hand for the contest, and spent time signing autographs and taking photos for fans. As it plans to with every title fight, The American Boxing Association donated a portion of sanctioning fees to the local Boys and Girls Club, and the Wounded Warrior Project.
#######
The American Boxing Association (ABA) was created to allow for American boxers to have a belt to fight for and defend with a sense of national pride. Like our counterparts in Great Britain, and other parts of the world, the ABA aims to provide an opportunity for American citizens to fight for and defend a patriotic title. The opportunity is available for all American boxers with requisite experience, drive, and dedication.
