Broner and Maidana Make Weight in Texas
Adrien Broner and Marcos Maidana, the two headliners who compromise the final feature of the year on Showtime, both made weight in San Antonio, ahead of their Saturday clash.
Broner, the provocateur out of Ohio who fancies himself something of a mini Mayweather, was 144.4, with sunglasses on. Maidana, the bomber out of Argentina, was 146.2 pounds. Maidana spoke after the scale session to Steve Farhood, after the boxers stared down. Broner yapped at Maidana and the men were parted before a pre-fight fight broke out. The Argentine said Broner can talk all he wants but he promised to teach him respect. He said he doesn’t mind the trash-talk, and he’s fought stronger fighters than Broner. He said does want to see Broner on the ground. “If I don’t knock him out, I won’t win,” Maidana said.

Broner to Farhood said he could fight lightweight on up. Maidana is in his way, so he has to knock down this steppingstone, he said. Tomorrow, he said he will earn “easy money” and he will “flatline” his foe.
The WBA welter crown will be up for grabs in the mainer.
In an undercard scrap which is whetting appetites of fight fans, Keith Thurman will tangle with rugged Mexican Jesus Soto Karass, and put up his WBA interim welter crown. Thurman was 145.8 pounds, while JSK was 146.2 pounds. Both did some jawing during their staredown and then broke into grins upon parting. Thurman chatted with Steve Farhood after. He said he told JSK he will go down, but “my grandma is tough too.” He said this fight is an opportunity to showcase his skills. He wanted to fight Robert Guerrero, who “ghosted on me.”
