Tuesday Night ESPN2 Fights.
Clarence Adams (41-6-3)19 KO takes on Manuel Sepeda (15-6-2)5KO. This is Adams' first appearance in seven Months, coming off of three straight losses, the last a controversial Split Decision loss to Guty Espadas. The previous two were back to back losses to Paulie Ayala; although the first ended in a very controversial Split Decision, the rematch was controlled by Ayala. So now Bones, in a confidence builder, takes on Manuel Sepeda. Manuel, who doesn't have much power with only 5 KOs,just came off a loss to Fernando “Bobby Boy” Velardez in a 10 Round UD loss. Once again, the line on this fight is too large to lay the favorite. The total on the fight is 9½ under -140. So let's do some homework, the last time Bones had a fight with a mediocre opponent with a similar record was Andres Fernandez (15-5)13KO. Bones stopped Fernandez in the sixth round. So, will we see a similar result in this fight? Well, let's look at the best fighters Sepeda has been in the ring with…Junior Jones and Fernando Velardez. Sepeda managed to go the distance with both fighters. Therefore, I see small value in the over 9½rds +110, especially since Adams hasn't been in the ring since the middle of November 2002. This will just be a glorified sparring session for Adams in preparation for bigger fish. On the same card will be up and comer Kelly “The Ghost” Pavlik (17-0)16KO Vs Rico Cason (16-7)4KO. Pavlik is tall at 6ft 3in and has a 78in reach.
Rico Cason (with only 4KO's) is going to have a difficult time trying to get inside to score any points. I see this fight ending in the 4th. Unfortunately, a line on this fight is not yet offered. Hopefully after this bout, Pavlik and his camp will feel confident enough to step up a level in competition. This way, we'll be able to get a line to bet into.
