Boxing News: WBC President Sues Over Tyson-Lewis Brawl

As reported in the New York Daily News, Jose Sulaiman – president of boxing sanctioning body, the WBC – is going back to court to seek compensation for injuries he alleges were suffered during the brawl that occurred at a press conference prior to the Mike Tyson – Lennox Lewis bout in 2002. Unscripted and contrary to what had been agreed, Tyson approached Lewis during the press conference, sparking the brawl.

In separate lawsuits filed in Manhattan Supreme Court, Sulaiman alleges that he suffered physical and psychological injuries as a result of the fracas. Jose Sulaiman is seeking damages from the Millennium Hotel and promoter Main Events.
