Windy City Blowout with Don King, Andrew Golota and Lamon Brewster
CHICAGO (April 7, 2005) – To lucky Chicagoans who are free next Thursday, April 14, Don King invites you to an open-to-the-public Chicago Press Conference to announce the May 21 WBO heavyweight title fight between reigning WBO heavyweight champion Lamon Brewster and perennial contender and all-around tough guy Andrew Golota.
The press conference begins at noon on the floor of the United Center, which is also hosting the fight. Free parking is available for all attendees in Lot K on the south side of the United Center. Enter the venue through Gate 6.
Indianapolis’ own “Relentless” Lamon Brewster (31-2 27 KOs) is an unlikely heavyweight champ. He won the title by defeating a stamina-challenged Wladimir Klitschko. Now may be the time to lose the crown.
The challenger Andrew “Powerful Pole” Golota (38-5-1 31 KOs), aka “South Pole” and “Foul Pole,” fighting out of Chicago, has been knocking at the door to the title forever. He blew it against Bowe, and against Lewis and against Tyson, yet redeemed himself against titleholders Chris Byrd and John Ruiz in his last two fights.
It looks like this is Golota’s time.
The undercard features the Australian Paul “Hurricane” Briggs (23-1 15 KOs) vs. Tomasz Adamek (28-0 20 KOs) from Poland for the vacant WBC light heavyweight crown.
We’ll see you in the Windy City next Thursday for the Don King press conference.
