Boxing News: Felix 'Tito' Trinidad Retires – Again
Felix 'Tito' Trinidad has retired from professional boxing for a second time after losing a lopsided decision to Winky Wright Saturday night in Las Vegas.
Trinidad announced his decision after his return to Luis Munoz Marin International Airport in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
At a news conference Sunday night, Trinidad’s trainer and father – Felix Trinidad Sr. – announced that he felt he could no longer go on training his son.
“I don't feel that I am giving my 100 percent in the corner, as I used to … Because of this, I feel I don't want to carry on working in the ring,” said Trinidad Sr.
An emotional Tito Trinidad claimed he would not continue without his father in his corner: “It you aren't here, I'm not continuing in boxing.”
“My father told me at Miami airport what he was going to do, and I reminded him that since I was a kid I told him that the day my father could not be at my side, I would not throw another blow,” added Tito.
