Jermain Taylor Vs. Sergio Mora Talks
Bad Intentions meets Latin Snake in Vegas or L.A.
Middleweight champion Jermain Taylor‘s promoter Lou DiBella has been saying for years that he wanted to give his Arkansan hotshot some easy fights but it hasn’t happened yet. The two battles with EX, The Executioner, B-Hop Bernard Hopkins, were followed by the June 17 punch-a-thon/draw with Winky Wright.
But that is about to change.
According to CNN/SI, Team Taylor is negotiating a fight with The Latin Snake, Sergio Mora (18-0), the west coast sensation who catapulted to fame courtesy The Contender.
DiBella said, “This would be a huge fight. Because of The Contender,’ he’s (Mora) one of the most recognized middleweights in the world. I’ve walked into casinos and have seen him get mobbed (by fans).
“He’s an excellent boxer, added DiBella. It’s a credible fight.”
Whether the fight is credible or not remains to be seen, but Taylor, with a nod to credibility, would rather fight a rematch with the Winkster, but that’s not happening, at least not now.
“I’m going to fight whoever is out there. I wish it was Winky, admitted Taylor, but he’s (Mora) a great fighter. I knew him in the amateurs.”
Bad Intentions Taylor also wanted to fight in front of his crew in neighboring Little Rock, but that’s not happening either, a least not now.
DiBella said the fight is headed for the west coast: “It has to go to L.A. or Vegas.”
