Mayorga Video Blasts Vargas As Coward
Ricardo Mayorga was silent, and you know when that happens, he’s either busy smoking and drinking, or he’s plotting out his next outrageous verbal barrage.
Word came out four days ago that Vargas has anemia, and won’t be ready to fight Sept. 8, and thus, the scheduled farewell fight versus Mayorga wouldn’t take place as scheduled.
Mayorga didn’t respond initially, but he’s made up for that.
The Nicaraguan Nightmare released a video in which he calls El Feroz “a coward,” and slams him for his “lack of respect.”
Mayorga says that Vargas’ pullout “puts Mexico to shame,” is “an embarassment to Mexico,” and says that the soon-to-be retired Vargas is “afraid of me.”
Even if he were injured, sick or cut, Mayorga said, he would fight on, and not cancel so close to the event.
“He’s scared of me,” he reiterated. “He’s a big coward. He should hang up the gloves and get a real job.”
The video ended with a fiendish flourish: it showed Vargas getting knocked to the canvas twice by Felix Trinidad in their 2000 welterweight title consolidation scrap.
