PRESS RELEASE: For Pride, Country: Hector Camacho Vs. Yory Boy Campas, Puerto Rico Bateles Mexico On PPV Telecast In Atlantic City May 9

Two genuine boxing legends are on a collision course for a major PPV TV bout to be held at the Trump Taj Mahal Hotel-Casino in Atlantic City on Saturday, May 9.

Ageless ring master Hector “Macho Man” Camacho, who is gunning for his incredible 80th pro ring victory in an 86-bout career that has included winning four world titles, will represent the fighting pride and great tradition of Puerto Rico.

TV Vision Network™ and RFC “Real Fighting Championships” presents “NATIONS COLLIDE 2:” Hector “Macho” Camacho VS  Luis Ramon “Yori Boy” Campas will be distributed live on pay per view by MultiVision Media, Inc. on Saturday,May 9 at 9:00 PM ET/6:00 PM PT.  The suggested retail price for “NATIONS COLLIDE 2” is $29.95.

Tickets may be obtained by calling Ticketmaster at 1-800-736-1420, or online at www.ticketmaster.com, or in person at the Trump Taj Mahal Box Office. For box office hours and more info, please call (609) 449-5250. Exiting details of other top bouts will be forthcoming.

“We are proud to be bringing the public two legendary warriors who proudly carry their country's banner wherever they go,” Francisco Rios CEO for TV Vision Network said.

“Both the Macho Man and Yory Boy personify the combination of skill and courage which has brought so much ring glory to Puerto Rico and to Mexico” adds Jason Freyre, Owner of the RFC. “Yory Boy has notched an incredible 74 KOs and Hector has recorded 38 for a stunning total of 112 knockouts. The action will be hot and heavy when they square off. Their ring resumes prove that.”

There’s a 10-year gap in age between the two storied veterans. Southpaw Camacho, once the slick kid who rose from the mean streets of the East Harlem barrio, can still bring it to opponents. He turns 47 on May 24 but age is just a number as Macho has won four bouts in succession, his last being a seven round TKO over 20-1 Perry Ballard in Houston July 18. This victory came after a three-year layoff but Camacho was razor sharp.

The former WBC super featherweight champ, WBC lightweight king and two-time WBO belt holder at 140 pounds, Camacho owns victories over such other Hall Of Fame foes as the magnificent Sugar Ray Leonard. Since a 1997 loss to the just retired icon Oscar De La Hoya, the “Macho Man” has gone 16-1-1.

“I still have the skills which pay the bills,” the never shy Camacho said. “I never had an easy fight with any Mexican and I know Campas does not play. It will be a classic fight but I will beat him down. He will see Puerto Rican Pride up close and personal.”

“I like to watch Camacho because his wiggling and dancing amuse me,” the stoic Campas said. “But we’ll be in a ring, not on ‘Dancing With The Stars’ and I will make Camacho dance to my York Boy tune. The forecast for Hector is pain.”

Some have forgotten but Campas even surpassed Rocky Marciano’s magic mark of 49-0.

Campas won his first 56 bouts, including 50 by knockout. In a battle with Puerto Rican icon Felix Trinidad in 1994, Campas floored him. Trinidad wound up stopping Yory Boy in a stirring scrap.

Many realize that Campas will travel anywhere (Finland and Ireland are his recent stops), to fight anybody anytime.  Campas is younger by 10 years than the “Macho Man” and continues to show peak performance.

While Hector says that 2009 remains “Macho Time,” Campas has shown his ring relevance first in a narrow loss to unbeaten Irish stand out John Duddy and then with an amazing, first round KO over ex-world champ Alejandro “Terra” Garcia in Tijuana last Nov. 8.

Duddy was 17-0 when he fought Campas, sustaining cuts over both eyes and winning a hotly disputed decision. The damage done by Campas put Duddy out of action for six months and the Irishman’s handlers refused to consider a rematch.

Some thought Campas might be declining but then came his  sizzling, shocking upset over the 26-3 Garcia, the former WBA junior middleweight champion. Campas floored Garcia three times in a one-round blitzkrieg.

No one is wrong, though, in describing Camacho and Campas as two of the most seasoned fighters ever.

Camacho has 655 pro rounds under his “Macho” belt while have gloves, will travel Campas has fought through the blood, sweat and tears for 595 rounds.

What’s even more amazing is that Camacho made his pro debut with an outstanding 96-4 amateur record behind him.

Legendary fighters who Campas fought include the just retired Oscar De La Hoya and Ferocious Fernando Vargas.

It’s two household names colliding with personal and national pride on the line along the Boardwalk.

Big-time boxing’s back in AC and Camacho-Campas is certain to be a treat for savvy boxing fans in person and on PPV television.
