Hitz Boxing in Chicago August 27
Chicago promoter Bobby Hitz has announced “The Stone Park Showdown!” on August 27, 2005 at Casa Italia, located at 3800 Division Street in Stone Park. Doors open for the outdoor, cigar-friendly event at 5:00 p.m. First fight starts at 6:00 p.m.
All tickets for this entertaining night at the fights are only $35.00.
“I had this date and I wanted to put together a fun show at a very affordable price,” said promoter Bobby Hitz. “The response from our sponsors has been overwhelming. Albert Falcon has been instrumental in helping secure a number of sponsors on short notice.”
The exciting seven bout card is a mix of fan favorites and young rising stars.
Headlining the eight round main event will be junior middleweight Rudy Cisneros (5-1, 4 KOs). Also scheduled for eight rounds is undefeated Ed “Iron Man” Gutierrez (14-0, 6 KOs).
Junior lightweight Jaime Sandoval (8-1, 7 KOs) will appear in a scheduled six-rounder. Also in six round action will be Chicagoan Jose Ortega (4-0, 3 KOs), as well as fan favorite “Hurricane” Ivan Rodriguez (6-2, 3 KOs). The Waukegan bantamweight recently thrilled a Las Vegas crowd and a national audience by winning a unanimous decision at the Gold Coast Casino on July 25th.
In a special attraction, nine-time national amateur champion Aaron Williams will make his Chicago debut in a scheduled four-rounder. The busy cruiserweight (3-0, 2 KOs) has captured the attention of the Las Vegas boxing scene. The 19-year-old is trained by hall of fame trainer Jesse Reid.
According to promoter Bobby Hitz, “This kid (Williams) has got some reputation. I offered the fight to a local guy, Mike Nevitt, who is 9-0, and his camp flatly turned it down!”
In women’s action, welterweight Lois Theobald of Crystal Lake will be appearing in the “Million Dollar Baby” bout of the night. Theobald’s bout is scheduled for four rounds.
