Evander Holyfield To Fight Fres Oquendo
Real Deal meets Fast Fres at the Alamodome on Nov.10
Future hall-of-famer, comebacking Evander “The Real Deal” Holyfield (39-8-2, 26 KOs), will meet comebacking Fast Fres Oquendo (26-3, 16KOs) on November 10 at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.
The 43-year-old Holy and his team are expected to announce the fight at a news conference this afternoon at Gallagher’s Steak House in New York City.
Holyfield’s trainer, Ronnie Shields, said the four-time heavyweight champion is determined to fight in San Antonio.
“He’s always wanted to fight there,” said Shields.
Director of the Alamodome, Mike Abington, admitted that no contracts had been signed, but said he is confident “the fight is going to happen.”
“In fact, if I didn’t have a previous commitment,” he told the Express-News, “I’d be in New York for the announcement.”
After Holyfield’s last performance, a dynamic second-round KO of Jeremy Bates on August 18 in Dallas, the citizens of the Lone Star State have fallen in love with the Holy One and want to see him in action again.
