De La Hoya Announces “Mexican Glory”
“Mexican Glory” spotlights Marquez/De Leon/Lazcano
This afternoon in the press room adjacent to the MGM Grand Garden Arena, Golden Boy Promotions’ Oscar De La Hoya announced his next big pay-per-view show called “Mexican Glory.”
“Mexican Glory” will be broadcast live on HBO PPV from the Don Haskins Center in El Paso, Texas, on Saturday, October 21, and is headlined by Juan Manual Marquez (45-3-1, 34 KOs) defending his interim WBO featherweight champion against Jimrex “The Executioner” Jaca (45-3-1, 34 KOs) of the Philippines.
The co-main event features WBO super bantamweight champion Daniel Ponce De Leon (29-1, 27 KOs) of Chihuahua, Mexico, defending his crown against #1 ranked Al Seeger (27-1, 21 KOs).
Also on the card, Juan Lazcano (36-3-1, 27 KOs) meets Manuel Garnica (20-5, 11 KOs) in a junior welterweight 10-rounder, and NABO super bantamweight champion Antonio Escalante (13-1, 8 KOs) defends his totle against Omar Adorno (16-7-1, 10 KOs).
I love watching Marquez, De Leon and Lazcano fight, De La Hoya said, but all for different reasons: Marquez for his technical brilliance, De Leon for his sometimes reckless fury, and Marquez for his relentless will to win.
Tickets are priced at $200, $100, $75, $50 and $30 and can be purchased by calling 915.747.5234 or by visiting www.utep.edu/events or www.ticketmaster.com.
