Tarver Wants No Part Of Calzaghe
Antonio Tarver rejects call to fight Joe Calzaghe
Antonio Tarver, still smarting from his defeat at the hands of Bernard Hopkins, says that he has no interest in fighting undefeated super middleweight champion Joe Calzaghe at least not right now.
Calzaghe’s promoter, Frank Warren, thinks the Magic Man should take a good look at where is career is at these days and consider giving Joe the shot he wants.
We’re out to prove Joe is the best fighter out there, Warren told icWales, and we can do that with a win over Tarver. We want to fight all the top Americans and beat them, but Tarver’s the guy we’d like first.
But, as Tarver, who’s waiting for his film debut in the new “Rocky” to hit the big screen before making his next pugilistic move, put it, I don’t dance to nobody’s music.
I’ve been on the grind for five years and every fight has been a do-or-die situation, Tarver said, reports the Tampa Tribune. Guys like Calzaghe have gotten by with fighting D-level fighters, but Antonio Tarver has always had major expectations on him.
When fighters insist on referring to themselves in the third person, you can always be sure that something is up.
