Showtime New Year's Eve Show CANCELLED
NEW YORK (Dec. 7, 2012) – Due to a hand injury suffered by Zsolt Erdei, the SHOWTIME Championship Boxing telecast scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 31, has been cancelled.
Erdei was slated to challenge IBF light heavyweight champion Tavoris Cloud in the main event at Anaheim, Calif. Rico Ramos was scheduled to defend his WBA super bantamweight title against Guillermo Rigondeaux in the co-feature.
The network is currently in discussions with the event promoters to find a new date for Ramos vs. Rigondeaux and for Tavoris Cloud to defend title on SHOWTIME in 2012.
“Unfortunately, we had to cancel this telecast,” said Chris DeBlasio, Vice President, Sports Communications for the network. “But the good news is we are actively looking for a new night to showcase these talented fighters on SHOWTIME. Ramos vs. Rigondeaux is an important fight in the deep Super Bantamweight division. And Tavoris Cloud is a force at light heavyweight. We anticipate his SHOWTIME debut.”
