“The Moment” For Ticketing Tidbits
Ticketing – Speaking to the health and well-being of the sport, and the level of interest in the forthcoming Floyd Mayweather-Marcos Maidana fight, I have some info from our friends at Vivid Seats, players in the secondary ticket marketplace.
You can still attend the fight card, according to an email I just received from the media relations for the scraps, touting todays’ grand arrivals to the MGM by the principals.
“Tickets for the live event priced at $1,500, $1,000 and $750 are still available, not including applicable service charges and taxes. Tickets priced at $550 and $350 are sold out. Tickets are limited to eight (8) per person. To charge by phone with a major credit card, call Ticketmaster at (800) 745-3000. Tickets also are available at www.mgmgrand.com or www.ticketmaster.com.”
That is on the initial market; the secondary market is a different deal. According to the Vivid crew, the “get-in” price is $350 — for the cheapest upper bowl seat at the MGM Grand. Floor seats have a median ticket price of $3,500, with the median price for a lower bowl ticket at $2,093. They also tell me that prices for tickets sold so far, by Vivid, for Saturday’s fight are 35% lower than the prices for tickets sold to Mayweather’s last fight, this past September 14th.
Also, Mayweather’s upcoming fight has average ticket prices 73% higher than prices for Manny Pacquiao’s recent fight at MGM Grand Garden, against Timothy Bradley. Hard to say what that can be attributed to…the date of the event, Mayweathers’ popularity vs. Mannys’, the Bradley bout being a rematch, etc.
There ya go, some ticketing tidbits for your perusal…
