ABOUT BARTHELEMY? Rances Next For Broner?
Word on the street is that Cuban cutie Rances Barthlelemy is going to be next for the trash-talking hitter from Cincy, Adrien Broner. A source with intimate knowledge told TSS, “We’re looking to get it done,” and the scrap would unfold on June 20, in Ohio.
Barthelemy holds a 22-0 (13 KOs) record and would be jumping up in weight for the tangle, which would be part of the PBC series. He was at 137 1/2 in his last fight, a TKO2 win over journeyman Angie Perez, and before that held the IBF’s 130 crown. He’s best known for having a part in a controversial win over Dominican Argenis Mendez; the Cuban was flurrying when the bell rang in a January 2014 contest, after having Mendez down. He kept flurrying and Mendez was out of it. The KO win was changed to a NC.
His length and left hook and ring generalship and experience in the Cuban system make him the best guy Broner (age 25; 30-1 with 22 KOs) has faced in a bit, if it comes to fruition.
