Zbik Warns Chavez Jr, “Be Prepared”
WORLD CHAMPION SEBASTION ZBIK HAS A MESSAGE FOR JULIO CESAR CHAVEZ JR
“Tell Junior to 'be prepared,' ” said Zbik at a media workout yesterday in Los Angeles. “I came here to win.
He's a good strong fighter, but I am the champion and overall I am just the better, more complete fighter.”
Zbik, from Germany, has been in Los Angeles for weeks to prepare for his world title defense against Chavez
Jr at the STAPLES Center on Saturday, June 4.
Ticket sales are strong, with ringside sold out. Freddie Roach, chief trainer for Chavez Jr., said the Son of the
Legend is “….prepared and ready to fight. He has worked very hard to get ready.”
Chavez Jr will throw the ceremonial first pitch at the Los Angeles Dodgers game on Sunday.
The final press conference will be at the Wilshire Grand Hotel, Los Angeles, on Wednesday, June 1.
Unbeaten featherweight Mikey Garcia of Oxnard, Ca. has sparred 125 plus rounds to get set for Miguel Beltran Jr on the Zbik vs.
Chavez Jr title card.
“Our last day of sparring will be on Saturday,” said Robert Garcia, chief trainer. “We've had some great sparring including a lot from
Carney Bowman who is very good, talented fighter. We used Carney for sparring before Mikey fought Matt Remillard in Atlantic City.
Mikey looks great right now. We know Beltran Jr is a good puncher. We're ready to fight.”
Garcia vs. Beltran Jr will be the opening televised bout on HBO After Dark.

Christy Martin will go for her 50th pro win when she takes on Dakota Stone on the Zbik vs. Chavez Jr world title card at STAPLES Center.
“This will be my first fight in California,” said Christy. “I've fought many time on Julio Cesar Chavez world title cards and now I am on the
same card as his son, Julio Jr. That's incredible when you think of it.”
Christy is training in Las Vegas with Miguel Diaz and assistant Richie Sandoval.
“Christy is in tremendous condition. She has worked hard for this opportunity,” Diaz said.
