UNDEFEATED HEAVYWEIGHT BOXER SETH “MAYHEM” MITCHELL RETURNS TO THE RING ON SATURDAY, AUGUST 27, 2011
Mitchell will fight “Merciless” Mike Mollo at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California and the bout will be televised on HBO’s “Boxing After Dark” program.
On Saturday night, August 27, 2011, undefeated heavyweight boxer, Seth “Mayhem” Mitchell, will fight at the HP Pavilion, in San Jose, California, on the televised HBO (Home Box Office) “Boxing After Dark” program. Mitchell’s bout will air at 10:30pm ET, followed by the Marcos Maidana-Robert Guerrero title fight. The fight card is presented by Golden Boy Promotions, in association with Universum Box Promotions. The HP Pavilion is located at 525 West Santa Clara Street, San Jose, California, 95113.
Seth Mitchell (Brandywine, Maryland, 22-0-1, 16 KOs) is scheduled to fight against American boxer, “Merciless” Mike Mollo (Oak Lawn, Illinois, 20-3-1, 12 KOs), in a 10-round bout. Mitchell, a former Maryland high school football All-American and Michigan State University football standout, has knocked out nine of his last ten opponents.
On May 13, 2011, Mitchell made his Showtime television debut and defeated Evans Quinn in a 10-round bout. In the opening round of the fight, Mitchell sent his opponent to the canvas with a combination of overhand right hooks to the head and body shots. Quinn did not answer the count from referee Joe Cortez, giving Mitchell the victory, by knockout, at 2:38 of round one.
Mitchell said, “This is an opportunity that doesn’t come around often. I’m very focused and won’t let the spotlight overwhelm me. I’m having a great training camp and am definitely looking forward to fighting Mike Mollo. He comes to fight. I’m sure he’s looking forward to the fight and he’ll be ready. Again, I’m very excited and I am looking forward to putting on a good show for my fans on HBO. I plan on coming home with another victory.”
Mitchell’s boxing trainer, Andre Hunter said, “I know Mike Mollo will come to fight, but Seth will adjust to whatever he brings to the fight. Seth is always in great condition and is prepared to fight into the later rounds. We are looking forward to continuing our success.”
Mitchell’s boxing manager, Sharif Salim, said, “Seth will be the co-main event on a very large platform. This truly puts him in the limelight, so that he can showcase his incredible talents. His opponent, Mike Mollo, is a tough fighter, and one that we will not take lightly. Seth is experiencing another tremendous training camp. We will be ready on August 27.”
