Sergio Meets The Pope
WBC middleweight champion, Argentine Sergio “Maravilla” Martinez has had a personal audience with Pope Francis who he presented with a special version of his magnificent WBC Green and gold belt.
Sergio was at a special mass given by the Pope. He shared pictures of this unique moment on his official twitter account, as well as a memorable photo of himself presenting the WBCbelt to the Pope.
Sergio said: “In the past couple of months, two of my dreams as a Catholic came true. To visit the Basilica of our Lady Guadalupe in Mexico and to be received by the Pope.
“I have asked His Holiness for blessings and spiritual protection for all those who enter the ring.”
