Fund-Raiser On Nov. 7 To Aid Gary Balletto and Family
Boxer Gary Balletto fought for promoter Jimmy Burchfield Sr. and excited fans in the New England area from 1996-2006, when he hung up the gloves with a 31-3-2 record.
The Cranston, Rhode Island resident, age 38, was injured in a backyard accident at his home on June 30. He was showing his son some gymnastic moves, and took a nasty tumble. Balleto suffered a broken neck and spinal chord damage. Currently, he is a quadraplegic.
His wife Christina and three children, Gary Jr., Hailey and Aiden are standing by the fighter. Burchfield (seen on left, with Balletto) is heading up a fund-raising event for the Ballettos on Nov. 7. Here is a message from Burchfield about the fund-raiser.
Important Message to all of my friends, family and teammates:
Every time Gary Balletto stepped in the ring, he brought so much excitement to the sport. “Tiger” fought with all his heart and brought so much joy to everyone who was lucky enough to see him compete. Now, it’s OUR turn to thank Gary for those moments by showing support for his family on November 7th at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center. Many of you know that Gary was seriously injured in July. All of the proceeds from this event will go to benefit the Balletto family. Whatever your affiliation is with boxing, whether your a fighter, a trainer, a manager or a fan, this is the only place to be!
ESPN’s Teddy Atlas will be there to host the evening and other boxing greats such as 5 time World Champion Vinny Paz, “Irish” Micky Ward and Peter Manfredo Jr. will be in attendance to show their support. The boxing community is coming together for one night, for one cause, for one VERY special person.
Gary is a fighter and he never let his fans down. I am determined to fight for him and I hope all of my friends, family and collegues will join me in this effort. We won’t let Gary down!
Tickets for this event are on sale now at my office (401) 724-2253. Call me for details. It will be a great night for the boxing world and I hope to see you all there!
