Monaco/Johannesburg, October 21 – Saturday’s “Title Tornado” tournament in Monte Carlo, promoted by Golden Gloves, will be broadcast in major territories across the world.
This was announced by promoter Rodney Berman upon his arrival in the principality on Tuesday.
In a major coup, a deal was agreed to have the Monte Carlo show broadcast on ESPN in the USA with the full telecast to be broadcast on ESPN3, which is available in 70 million+ homes.
Other confirmed countries and territories that will see a live or taped broadcast feed include Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Italy, Japan, Macedonia, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Middle East, Poland, Turkey, United Kingdom, Uruguay, plus 54 countries in sub-Saharan Africa.
“The demand has been significant,” said Berman. “Not only are there a number of excellent match-ups, but with boxers from East and West it makes for a very cosmopolitan event.”
He said that other broadcast territories would be announced in the next 48 hours.
Said Lowell Conn of Octapixx LIVE, the boxing rights distributor and sports marketing firm: “We are very pleased that the telecast is going to be widely seen and look forward to more positive news in this regard before the week is out.”
The boxers officially come face to face for the first time on Wednesday with the media conference at Casino de Monte-Carlo.
The “Title Tornado” card includes Martin Murray’s WBC Silver middleweight title defence against Domenico Spada of Italy, WBA/IBO strawweight champion Hekkie Budler’s title defence against Xiong Zhao Zhong of China, the IBF title fight between Randy Caballero of the US and Stuart Hall of the UK and the WBC Silver light-heavyweight fight between unbeaten prospects Ryno Liebenberg of South Africa and Eleider Alvarez of Colombia.
