Sean Monaghan Added To Bradley Undercard Dec. 13
Seanie Monaghan, the blue collar brawler from Long Beach, Long Island, whose fans pack into joints to see him rumble and then drain the beer concession, tells TSS that he’ll be back in action on Dec. 13.
Thirsty and loyal Seanie fans, book your tix to Vegas, because the 33-year-old hitter with a 22-0 (14 KOs) mark, will be scrapping on the Tim Bradley-Diego Chaves undercard, at the Cosmopolitan.
“They (promoter Top Rank) wants to keep me busy,” he told me. “I will fight Daniel Regi (24-11 with 12 KOs, been stopped eight times), and shake some rust off.”
A cut sustained on his left eye in his last outing, a UD10 win, which came against Elvir Muriqi at Barclays Center in Brooklyn on June 14, is healed up, and he’s ready to rock. So is his family; Monaghan’s wife Beverly oversees the house, which holds son Sammy (3) and daughter Molly (9 months), and bills have to be paid…so fighting must occur.
A big ticket bout is likely in the not too near future, as the right handed pressure fighter is ranked No. 3 in the WBA. The BA champ is lefty Juergen Braehmer (44-2 with 32 Kos; age 36), who is based in Germany and isn’t inclined to trek to the States to defend. Thus, Monaghan would have to be and is willing to get on a jet plane and do his thing on Braehmer’s turf. “I’m No. 3, Chris Algieri was No. 14 when he fought Provodnikov. It’s a matter of time.”
I’ve heard rumors that there might be a St. Patty’s-themed scrap for Seanie on Long Island in March, but he didn’t want to get into anything much beyond the Reggie fight, smartly.
