Van Heerden Wants Rios
CHRIS VAN HEERDEN SETS SIGHTS ON BRANDON RIOS AFTER FRANKIE GAVIN FIGHT COLLAPSES
Los Angeles, CA (April 10, 2015) With a slated May 9 clash in England against home towner FRANKIE GAVIN scrapped; South African’s CHRIS “The Heat” VAN HEERDEN has his sights firmly set on a stateside battle with former world champion BRANDON RIOS.
“I’m gutted about the Gavin fight being called off, but more than ready to face Brandon Rios who I understand is looking for an opponent in May or June” said the 27-year-old Van Heerden, a disciple of renowned trainer FREDDIE ROACH. “The reasons for the Gavin cancellation are unimportant, I’m in great shape and ready to extend my winning streak against the likes of Rios.”
Sporting a record of 22-1-1 (11KO’s), Van Heerden is coming of a sensational 10-round decision over Cecil McCalla on January 9, 2015 at Madison Square Garden. The win was his eighth in a row against top opposition. “Brandon’s never backed down from a fight, neither have I. He’s always looking for a war, he needs to look no further.”
