Viktor Postol Gets W in Brooklyn
Viktor Postol rose to 27-0 with a TKO4 win over Youngstowner Jake Giuericeo, who dropped to 17-3-1 on Saturday in Brooklyn.
The Ukrainian Postol had a length and power and mobility and everything advantage in this welter tangle at Barclays.
Postol is the No. 1 ranked welter by the WBC and received money from Danny Garcia for his patience in not securing a title crack versus “Swift.” Postol went low then high, slipped smartly, hopped, stayed loose, looked to be in complete control early. The Bull didn’t look horridly overmatched. He came to BK in shape, looked to land a counter left hook, an overhand right.
He didn’t fight afraid, but he did eat combos from the more fluid Postol through four.
Postol, yes, had to work, but was in no real danger, not unless he really took his eyes off the road. He didn’t and we went to the cards. Scores favored VP, 79-73, 80-72, 80-72.
