RECENT TITLE CHALLENGER MENDEZ RETURNS TO ACTION TONIGHT
|
Mendez, given the controversy from the first fight, had hoped to immediately secure a rematch against Salgado. Rather than wait around for the fight to possibly materialize, Mendez will look to take things into his own hands and work his way back toward another title shot, beginning with his bout tonight against Jose Palma (14-4-2, 9KO's). The bout, scheduled for 10 rounds, will take place at the Hotel Jaragua, in Santo Domingo. Headlining the card, which will be aired by ESPN Deportes, will be former world champion Joan Guzman taking on Florencio Castellano for the vacant IBF Caribbean Welterweight Title.
