Mayweather Promoting “ShoBox” in NY on Feb. 28
ONEIDA NATION HOMELANDS (February 7, 2014) Floyd Mayweather Jr., the current light middleweight champion of the world and considered by many to be the best pound-for-pound boxer of all time, will bring a night of world-class boxing to the Turning Stone Resort Casino Event Center in Central New York on Friday, February 28 through his Mayweather Promotions brand.
Mayweather Promotions, in association with AASHA Record Breakers, will present a fight card filled with young, rising stars of the sport for a live telecast of “SHOBOX – The New Generation.” For more than ten years, SHOBOX has been a launching pad for future champions, with more than 40 fighters moving on to win world titles.
Mayweather Promotions will feature two of its top fighters on the February 28 show. Undefeated middleweight contender J’Leon Love (16-0, 9 KOs) of Dearborn Heights, Michigan, will compete in the main event on Showtime. The co-feature bout will include lightweight prospect Mickey Bey (19-1-1, 10 KOs) of Cleveland, Ohio. The full list of bouts will be announced soon, and all bouts are subject to change.
The February 28 event will mark the eighth nationally televised boxing event held at Turning Stone in the past 18 months, and comes on the heels of former world heavyweight champion Mike Tyson’s anticipated world debut as a promoter at Turning Stone in August 2013. With two of the sport’s biggest names selecting the resort for their promotional events just months apart, Turning Stone has clearly established itself as a premier destination for boxing.
Tickets for the February 28 SHOBOX event at the Turning Stone Resort Casino Event Center are on sale now. Tickets are priced at $60, $35, $25, and $15, and are subject to additional fees. Call the Turning Stone box office at (315) 361-7469 to order tickets directly, or visit www.Ticketmaster.com.
Doors open at the Turning Stone Resort Casino Event Center at 6:30 p.m. Friday, February 28. The first undercard bout starts at 7:30 p.m. The live Showtime telecast begins at 10:00 p.m..
Professional media requesting credentials must contact Oneida Nation Public Affairs Manager Brett Stagnitti at (315) 829-8310 or bstagnitti@oneida-nation.org for consideration.
