Rosado Vs. Stevens Tops Saturday BKB
Press Conference and Weigh-Ins Set the Stage for Second BKB Event at Mandalay Bay, Highlighted by Main Event Between Gabriel Rosado and Curtis Stevens
BKB, a totally new and unique take on conventional boxing, returns to the Mandalay Bay Events Center Saturday, April 4, highlighted by a main event featuring BKB Middleweight Champion Gabriel Rosado squaring off in “The Pit” against hard-hitting, Curtis Stevens. The BKB2 fight card offers a night of intense toe-to-toe action for those who love the “fight” in boxing.
BKB will host a press conference on Thursday, April 2, featuring fighters, executives and boxing royalty in Hall of Famer “Sugar” Shane Mosley, who has served as Stevens’ trainer as he prepares to enter “The Pit” for the first time in the evening’s main event. On Friday, April 3, BKB will hold its official weigh-ins where another boxing legend, four-time Heavyweight Champion Evander Holyfield, will be in attendance.
On fight night, a variety of celebrities are scheduled to attend and walk the BKB red carpet prior to the event, including Kellan Lutz (TheTwilight Saga), Emily Ratajkowski (Blurred Lines, Entourage), Joel McHale (Community, The Soup) and Mario Lopez (Extra).
HERE IS ANOTHER PRESS RELEASE:
BKB is Back
With Gabe Rosado to Defend Middleweight BKB Title
Against Curtis Stevens at Mandalay Bay
BKB’s Second Event will be the First to Use
Live Fight Technology in a PPV Event
LAS VEGAS – February 18, 2015 – Gabe Rosado will put his Middleweight Big Knockout Boxing (BKB) Championship title on the line against hard-hitting New Yorker, Curtis Stevens when BKB returns to the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas on April 4 at 10 p.m. ET.
For the first time, a live PPV boxing event will feature BKB’s live fight technology. Developed exclusively for BKB, the technology will measure in real time the pounds-per-inch velocity and force of every punch thrown in the match using a microchip in the wrist of the boxer’s glove that transmits the information to the TV screen as an easy-to-read, graphic display.
Fans will be able to see live who throws the hardest punch in every round, the type of punch, where it lands, how much hand mass has connected with the fighter’s body and other real-time stats. The technology is solely for the entertainment of fans and will not be used in the arena or by the judges to score rounds.
BKB, a new and intense close-range form of boxing that debuted last August, will bring back “The Pit,” a smaller, circular fighting space than a traditional square boxing ring with no ropes designed to produce more knockouts and heightened boxing action. BKB 2 will be available on PPV from DIRECTV and DISH, as well as cable and telco providers through IN DEMAND and Vubiquity for $29.95.
Rosado earned the BKB Middleweight title after seven action-packed and hard fought rounds with a TKO victory over Bryan Vera. Stevens, trained by boxing legend “Sugar” Shane Mosley and known for unleashing powerful punches on opponents, looks to take the belt from Rosado in what is stacking up to be a heavy-hitting, no-nonsense main event.
“BKB’s initial event was a resounding success and gave fans exactly what they were looking for – relentless, toe-to-toe action,” said Bruce Binkow, executive director of BKB. “We’re building on what we started, with our second BKB event, pitting a proven warrior in Gabe Rosado against Stevens, who is well known for aggressively bringing the fight to his opponents. Along with our exclusive BKB fight telemetry, this event will be a must-see for true boxing fans.”
In addition to Rosado vs. Stevens, the live pay-per-view event will feature several exciting bouts ranging from Heavyweights down to Jr. Welterweight.
$1· Jr. Middleweight: Jesus Soto Karass – Hollywood, CA vs. Ed Paredes – Miami, FL
$1· Jr. Middleweight: David Estrada – Chicago, IL vs. Khurshid Abdullaev – St. Petersburg, Russia
$1· Cruiserweight: Anthony Johnson – San Jose, CA vs. Joe Montoya – Colorado Springs, CO
$1· Welterweight: Javier Garcia – Oxnard, CA vs. Jonathan Chicas – San Francisco, CA
$1· Jr. Welterweight: Herbert Acevedo – Garden City, KS vs. William Hutchinson – Pittsburgh, PA
$1· Jr. Welterweight: Gabe Duluc – Boston, MA vs. Antonio Canas – Chicago, IL
$1· Heavyweight: Julian Pollard – Brockton, MA vs. Elijah McCall – Chicago, IL
Developed by a team of industry veterans and licensed by the Nevada State Athletic Commission, BKB features shorter and fewer rounds. BKB utilizes a unique format designed to deliver a higher intensity level, maximum action and amazing knockouts, all of which have been declining with conventional boxing. BKB Rounds last two minutes compared to boxing’s three-minute and MMA’s five-minute rounds. Fighters, using eight- and 10-ounce boxing gloves (depending on weight class), go five rounds for non-championship bouts and seven rounds for championship bouts.
Season two of BKB “Unfiltered,” will return this spring on DIRECTV’s Audience Network, channels 101 and 239. “Unfiltered” provides viewers an in-depth, behind-the-scenes look at the sport of BKB and insight into the fighters training regiments with never-before-seen interviews before they battle in “The Pit.”
