Efrain Esquivias Headlines June 24
Orange, CA (June 1, 2011) – “Locked N' Loaded” opens up with a slew of young Thompson Boxing Promotion gunslingers once again at the Doubletree Hotel in Ontario on Friday, June 24. Rising Super Bantamweight Efrain Esquivias, a hard-fighting sharpshooter out of Carson, California steps up once again and faces a bomber from Brownsville, Texas by the name of Felipe Cordova in a scheduled eight round collision. Esquivias (13-0, 9 KOs), the current WBA Fedecentro Champion, has never tasted defeat and fights out of the Wild Card Boxing gym under the tutelage of famed trainer Freddie Roach. Cordova (10-2, 4 KOs) travels west to test the hot California boxing scene as he faces Esquivias, whose machine like punches have mowed down every opponent he's faced to date. Tickets for “LOCKED N' LOADED” are priced at $75, $45, and $30. They are available now and may be purchased by calling 714-935-0900.
In the co-main event hard fighting southpaw Jose “El Niño” Reynoso (14-2-1, 2 KOs) straps on the boxing gloves once again to bring his brand of fighting to the fans. This time he engages Esteban Almaraz (10-3, 4 KOs) in a junior welterweight showdown. Riverside's Reynoso has become one of the most promising junior welterweights in the hottest division. He's undefeated in his last five pro bouts.
Almaraz, who fights out of Harlingen, Texas, is one tough customer having recently defeated former world champion Nestor Garza of Mexico back in June 2010. He's never been stopped in his career despite facing some very rugged opponents like Ruslan Provodnikov. This time around, Reynoso will not have it easy with Almaraz either.
In undercard action…
A six-round welterweight event features big punching Artemio “King” Reyes Jr. (11-1, 10 KOs) once again. The lean fighting machine has won all but one of his victories by knockout. Thompson Boxing Promotions is looking to move him up to bigger fights in the near future.
Other boxers on the card will be Colombia's Daulis Prescott (22-0, 17 KOs), the Breidis Prescott's younger brother, the only fighter with a win over current WBA junior welterweight champion Amir Khan. Prescott, a featherweight, will be making his debut on a Thompson Boxing card. Lightweight Sergio Nunez (2-0-1, 2 KOs) is scheduled for four rounds. Carson lightweight Santiago Guevara will make his pro debut.
“Locked N' Loaded” is presented by LUCAS OIL “It Works!” and will be aired on FOX DEPORTES at a later date to be announced.
Bouts subject to change. Doors open at 6:30 pm, and the first bell rings at 7:30 pm. The Doubletree Hotel is located at 222 North Vineyard Avenue in Ontario. The hotel phone number is 909-937-0900.
