Oliveira Sick, Off Saturday Show
MIAMI (Dec. 12, 2011) – Unbeaten middleweight prospect Michael “The Brazilian Rocky” Oliveira, rated No. 15 by the World Boxing Council (“WBC”), has withdrawn due to illness from his scheduled fight this Saturday night (Dec. 17) against veteran Jimmy “The Fightin' School Teacher” Holmes (19-3-2, 10 KOs) at Pepsi Coliseum in Quebec City.
The 21-year-old Oliveira (16-0, 12 KOs) has been bedridden the past few days at his Miami home with a high fever, stomach virus and dehydration.
“Michael still wanted to fight but he will be too weak,” Michael's father/promoter Carlos Oliveira (MO Productions) reported. “We plan for his return to the ring in late January.”
