San Antonio’s Celina Salazar Accepts Ana Julaton Challenge In Cancun On Aug. 17
Budding star CELINA SALAZAR has eagerly accepted the challenge of former junior featherweight world champion ANA “THE HURRICANE” JULATON on Aug. 17, in Cancun, Mexico.
It’s Mexican versus Filipina when SALAZAR (4-1-2) and JULATON (12-3-1) clash at the beautiful beach resort town of Cancun. Golden Boy Promotions along with Cancun Boxing will be presenting the 10-round featherweight female bout. Televisa will show the major female boxing event in the U.S. and Mexico.
SALAZAR, 24, lives in San Antonio, Texas and has been fighting professionally since April 2009. She is trained by Arturo Ramos.
Despite only seven pro bouts SALAZAR has steered her career toward winning a world title. Last September 2012 SALAZAR eagerly accepted a fight with Las Vegas whirlwind MELINDA “LA MARAVILLA” COOPER. One thing both female prizefighters shared was their ability to scare off potential opponents.
SALAZAR had been unable to find someone willing to step in the ring against her and Cooper also found it difficult. So when both were offered an opportunity to fight each other they quickly signed the contract.
On Sept. 8, 2012, SALAZAR and COOPER clashed in a six round junior featherweight fight with both unleashing blows with skillful adroitness. Back and forth the two female warriors exchanged flurries and counters until the final bell rang. COOPER won by majority decision, but SALAZAR showed the crowd – including FLOYD MAYWEATHER who was in attendance – that she could fight and compete at the elite level. Now it’s the San Antonio lady gladiator’s second opportunity to fight an elite female boxer.
JULATON, 33, is a two-time world champion out of the San Francisco bay area with a ton of experience in her almost six-year pro career. She’s fought in Canada, Argentina and twice in Mexico and is no stranger to the Yucatan area.
Will age catch up to the Filipina-American prizefighter?
The Mexican-American SALAZAR aims to step on the accelerator and dare JULATON to keep up. It should be one of the most watched female prizefights in years.
Don’t miss it.
