WBC Prez Sulaiman Attends Association of Boxing Commissions Gathering
Mauricio Sulaiman, President of the WBC, spent two days in Clearwater, Florida, meeting with the Association of Boxing Commissions and is extremely happy with the results of this trip.
The WBC and the NABF were represented by Sulaiman, President of the WBC, Duane Ford, President of the NABF and Rex Walker, President of the Youth Championships and WBC vice President.
“Tim Lueckenhoff has lead the ABC for many years and I was very impressed with some of the presentations during the ABC convention. Dr. Julian Bailes was a speaker and his presentation regarding Brain Trauma in Sports was formidable and the WBC, in fact will reach out with Dr. Julian Bailes hoping to have his participation during the WBC Annual Convention in Las Vegas,” said Sulaiman, from his home in Mexico.
“I had the opportunity to speak with many boxing commissioners from many states of the USA, Canada and Mexico,” he said.
During the WBC’s presentation, several topics were discussed, among others:
• Report and working plan which resulted from the boxing organization’s summit.
• Instant Replay in boxing
• Jose Sulaiman Boxers Fund – It was voted unanimously by the ABC to support the efforts in which Fundación Telmex is featured in the uniform of referees, as this foundation has committed to donate $150,000 dollars every year for 5 years and giving many former boxers aid through the Nevada Community Foundation.
• The WBC met with IBF President and Executive Committee to discuss important matters.
• AIBA and the current situation of amateur boxing in the world.
