Co-Feature Scouting Report: Lamour vs. Falowo

Undefeated Technical Boxer vs. Seasoned Puncher

Mashantucket, CT: Russell Lamour (11-0, 5 KOs) is looking to remain undefeated against the younger Thomas Falowo (12-3, 8 KOs) on Friday, Jan. 30 in the co-feature on ESPN2 Friday Night Fights. Although Lamour is unbeaten, he has yet to face the same caliber of opposition Falowo has faced. Below is the scouting report for this match-up:

Russell “The Haitian Sensation” Lamour

Category :

Age : 32

Record : 11-0 (5 KOs)

Strength : Lamour has good size and reach that he uses to his advantage. He utilizes his jab well to setup his best punch, the straight right hand.

Weakness : Lamour does not possess adequate punching power in either hand, nor has he faced any top-level opposition thus far. Falowo will be the biggest puncher he has faced.

Experience : He compiled over 100 wins as an amateur boxer but has yet to face any significant opposition as a pro yet.

Power : Russell will be at a disadvantage here as he does not possess that one-punch knockout power. He has only recorded two knockout wins in his last six fights.

Speed : Lamour will have the advantage here but not by much. He is quicker on his feet, which could pose a problem if Falowo plans on catching him at some point.

Endurance : Lamour has only gone eight rounds once, which was in his most recent bout. His endurance is still yet to be seen.

Accuracy : He will have an advantage here as he uses his jab to set up his shots wisely.

Defense : Lamour will be at an advantage here, he moves around the ring well making it difficult for anyone to hit him.

Chin : Lamour has yet to face a fighter with the punching power of Falowo, so his chin is still a question.

Style : Lamour is a more technical fighter who is not afraid to trade with anyone if he has to.

Intangibles : Lamour could have continued to improve on his current unblemished record by taking on easier opposition; instead he decided to challenge himself by facing a tough and hard-hitting puncher in Falowo.

Crowd Support : Lamour could receive adequate fan support because he is from Maine and has fought his whole career in the surrounding area.

Thomas “The Souljah” Falowo

Category :

Age : 26

Record : 12-3 (8 KOs)

Strength : Falowo is an aggressive fighter with good punching power in both hands and has a good reach also. He times his punches well, which enables him to land his best punch, also the straight right hand.

Weakness : Falowo does not put together many combinations and has a tendency to rely too heavily on landing the big shot. He also tends to throw wide looping punches that may get him in trouble in this fight.

Experience : Falowo may be a bit more seasoned at the professional level with four more bouts under his belt. He has also competed on a major network in his most recent bout, taking on rising prospect Ronald Gavril.

Power : “The Souljah” will have the advantage here. He has solid power in both hands and is always looking to finish his opponents. Only one of his previous five wins have gone the distance.

Speed : Falowo will be at a slight disadvantage as his speed is average.

Endurance : He has yet to be pushed past eight rounds and has not gone the distance in his previous three bouts. His endurance is still in question.

Accuracy : Falowo will be at a disadvantage here, some of his punches tend to get wide and looping when trying to land the knockout punch.

Defense : Falowo stands right in front of his opponents looking to land the big shots, which also allows for his opposition to land their own shots.

Chin : Falowo has been knocked down before, and was stopped in his last fight, so his chin could very well be a concern.

Style : Falowo is a boxer/puncher who is always looking to finish his opponents.

Intangibles : Rather than getting back to his winning ways after a loss in his last fight, Falowo has decided to challenge himself once again by taking on yet another undefeated fighter.

Crowd Support : Falowo has fought in Connecticut on one occasion and may bring the crowd to their feet if he can manage to land one of his big shots.

The Match-Up:

  1. Will Lamour mentally be there since he is trying to keep that undefeated record?
  2. Will Falowo mentally be there since he lost to Lamour in the amateurs?
  3. Lamour has never been down. Will he be able to handle it if he is knocked down?
  4. Will Falowo be able to get through Lamour’s defense?

Main Events’ matchmaker Jolene Mizzone had this to say about the fight, “This is the type of fight all fighters coming up should take. You have an undefeated boxer (Lamour) who is taking a big step up and you have a fighter (Falowo) who has been in tough fights that he lost, but not looking for easy fights. They both want to prove they belong in the mix in the middleweight division.”
