Gamboa Again No Shows Press Conference
Yuriorkis Gamboa no showed at a press conference in Miami on Monday to hype his April 14 fight versus Brandon Rios, and he no showed once again today, at a Tuesday presser in LA.
Promoter Top Rank still hopes to salvage the date, as is, and exec Todd DuBoef told the press at the LA event that he hopes Gamboa will stick to an agreement signed on Feb. 16, to fight Rios. The exec said that he will pay a $100,000 bonus to the winner of the fight.
The rumor mill has said that Gamboa has been seen in the company of Mayweather Promotions associates, and folks believe he might try and jump ship to that outfit. But no one has heard from Gamboa to confirm or deny rumors.
Rios is trying to put on pressure from his end. He held up a poster of Gamboa that read: “This coward never wanted to fight.”
Stay tuned.
