Glowacki Pulls Off Stunner Stoppage in Round 11 Over Champ Huck
Marco Huck defended his cruiser crown in the TV opener on Spike, on a PBC card Friday night, unfolding at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ, and things were looking solid in the second half of the fight for the long time titlist. His experience was showing…but Glowacki kept working, and a sweeping left and right follow, sent Huck down in the 11th. He got up and Glow went in on him, forcing the ref to halt the event.
Glow shrugged off a knockdown in the sixth and almost had the plug pulled on him, so props for his fortitude. Yes indeed, it was a shocker ending, but since Glow wasn’t fading, it wasn’t out of the realm of the possible.
In the first, the Serbian born Huck (38-2-1 entering; lives in Germany ), in his US debut, was looking for his 14th defense. Glowacki (24-0 entering), who wanted to become a boxer when he saw Mike Tyson scrap, was making his American debut as well. Huck the righty wanted to land a lead right. Glow was aggressive, dipped and ripped, and landed a right hook to great effect end of round. Glow worked hard and had his crowd buzzing in the second. In the third, Glow was the busier man and you wondered about Huck’s game plan, and whether he was sharp on this night. In round four, Glow kept moving his head, and Huck found it hard to get a bead on him. He edged Huck back, and Huck offered a weak jab and not too much O.
In the fifth, Huck landed a counter right, his best shot. Then he brought out his left hook. He was heating up…The next round, Huck sent Glow down and he was almost out. The left hook did it…He got up and landed a nasty hurtful left. In the seventh, Glow perked up and landed jabs. He didn’t fade like I thought he was looking like he might. In the eighth, Glow backed Huck up. He landed to the body and then ate some Huck leather. A left hand buzzed the Pole. To round nine…Huck was watching a lot. Round ten saw blood on right eye of Glow. Also on the bridge of his nose…A Huck answer right was the punch of the round.
In round 11, down went Huck. This was the first time for him. He got up but Glow finished him off, the ref stepped in. It was a solid stunner of a stoppage and why you got to know, it ain’t over till…
