Hughie Fury Beats Dominick Guinn In Delayed Match At Wembley Arena

Heavyweights Hughie Fury and Dominick Guinn were supposed to be the co-feature bout of Saturday night’s boxing event at the Wembley Arena. Unfortunately, their bout was delayed and did not air on television, as ringside doctors tended to main event fighter Nick Blackwell, who left it all in the ring in his fight with Chris Eubank Jr.

Though the fight was thought cancelled and most of the crowd had thinned out, Fury and Guinn took to the ring. The cameras for Channel 5, which were there to film the show for broadcast were long gone so the action was captured by a few of the stragglers on cell phones.

In the end, the fight went the full ten rounds, with Hughie Fury winning a unanimous decision that saw him win every round. Guinn was never able to mount any offense. Some of that may have been due to the circumstances surrounding the fight and the delay, and Guinn served basically as a punching bag over the ten rounds.

For Fury, the fight signified ring time before a proposed April 30th fight against a yet to be named opponent. Fury is now 19-0 overall and at 21 years old, he and his camp have been talking about a step up fight sometime in 2016. We will see what materializes for Fury in April.

How crazy was the atmosphere in the near empty Wembley Arena while Fury fought against Guinn? Well apparently, the ring card girls had all gone home as well, and the delicate work of announcing the rounds to the crowd was done by none other than Heavyweight Champion Tyson Fury. All in a days work for the champion, who was a constant fixture providing support to his cousin Hughie thrughout the build-up to this fight.

Tyson’s 19 year old brother, also named Hughie, had his fight scratched at the last minute. He fights as “Young Fury” and has a 6-1 professional mark to his name.
