Sergey Kovalev vs Andre Ward Odds Review

Sergey Kovalev vs Andre Ward Odds – Saturday, November 19th sees HBP pay-per-view at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas for the highly anticipated light heavyweight showdown between Sergey Kovalev and Andre Ward.
A lot of planning has gone into the making of this fight, as it has been talked about for a couple of years. The plans started to move forward in October of 2015 when Ward formally announced that he had signed a three fight deal with HBO with the goal of fighting Kovalev in the third fight clearly stated. Since then, each man has had two HBO fights to get geared up for the big encounter. Though neither man had a stand-out, signature performance in the tune-up bouts, both men won and all systems appear to be a go for the November encounter.
Sergey Kovalev vs Andre Ward Odds
Both men have entered their respective training camps, and the fight is officially less than two months away. Below are the odds that have been put up for the fight, and as expected, the fight is considered to be very close. What may be a bit surprising to some is that Ward has opened a slight favorite at -140, with Kovalev returning at +120. Kovalev is 30-0-1 in his career with 26 knockouts, and he is the #1 ranked light heavyweight as named by the Transnational Boxing Rankings Board. Kovalev also holds the WBA, IBF and WBO world titles at 175 pounds and he is putting the three titles at risk in this bout.
Light Heavyweight 12 rounds –
Sergey Kovalev +120
Andre Ward -140
Both Kovalev and Ward appear on the TBRB’s top pound for pound list. Both are technically sound, though most will give a slight edge to Ward in technical prowess. Ward is fighting for just the third time at 175 pounds and because he has been fighting tune-ups, he has not met an elite fighter like Kovalev at this weight. Ward is 30-0 with 15 knockouts in his career, but he has not shown that he has retained power at 175 lbs, winning two decisions while Kovalev has more than earned his nickname “The Krusher.”
It will be interesting to see if Ward remains the favorite as the fight approaches, of if the money comes in on Kovalev.
