Zou Shiming Arrives in US Today

Zou Shiming – LAS VEGAS, NV – (February 4, 2013) – Zou Shiming, two-time Olympic gold medalist and three-time World Amateur Champion, will arrive in the United States on Today! Monday, February 4, to begin training for his professional boxing debut.
Shiming will land in Los Angeles at LAX Today! Monday, February 4, at 5:00 p.m. PT aboard Air China. Shiming’s Las Vegas Grand Arrival at The Venetian Porte Cochere (3555 Las Vegas Blvd. South, Las Vegas, Nev. 89109), will take place the following day, Tomorrow! Tuesday, February 5, at Noon PT. Shiming will be greeted by his promoters, Bob Arum and Todd duBoef of Top Rank; his new trainers, Freddie Roach and Miguel Diaz; and John Caparella, president and COO of The Venetian and The Palazzo. Media opportunities will be available at LAX and at The Venetian.

The Venetian Porte Cochere: Noon PT
Shiming will begin his training on Tuesday, following his Grand Arrival, in a custom gym located inside the resort complex. He will train at The Venetian and The Palazzo through February 15, and then move to the Top Rank Gym, also located in Las Vegas, through March 23. He will return to China for his last two weeks of training camp. Shiming, 31, is scheduled to make his professional boxing debut on April 6 at The Venetian Macao Resort Hotel in Macau.
One of the most popular Olympic athletes in the People’s Republic of China, Shiming is the world’s greatest amateur light flyweight, capturing gold medals in the 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympic Games. In the 2005, 2007, and 2011 World Amateur Championships, Shiming also brought home gold medals, making him his nation’s first boxing gold medalist in the World Amateur Championships and Olympics. He became his nation’s first Olympic medalist in boxing when he earned bronze in 2004.
Known for his extraordinary speed and superb footwork, thanks to years of martial-arts training, many of Shiming’s opponents complain that they cannot keep up with him, much less see his punches coming. He has stated that his heroes are Muhammad Ali and Jackie Chan.
