Provodnikov Wonders If Algieri Is As Willing As He Is To Endure
We hear boxers, every now and again, say that they are willing to die in the ring.
Ruslan Provodnikov, 139.8 at the Friday weigh-in, has said that before, so I asked his foe on Saturday night, at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, Chris Algieri, how hearing that affects someone.
“I really don’t have a feeling about that,” Algieri, who was 140 pounds at the Friday weigh-in, said. “He says that and I think all fighters have that in them. We take the biggest risks there are. I’ve said it time and time again, boxing is the best sport in the world for that reason, boxers take the biggest risks int he world. We should get recognized for that, we should paid for that. Ruslan says that in a way that’s a little bone-chilling for most other people, but every fighter who hears that understands where he’s coming from.”
Provodnikov here says it remains to be seen whether Algieri is willing to submit himself to the same level of, perhaps, pain, and fatigue and the like which The Siberian Rocky is.
We shall see, Saturday night….Readers, your prediction please, in our Forum.
