Guerrero Should Not Have Rust Issue Vs. Kamegai
Robert Guerrero has taken some time away from the ring, for various reasons, among them a promotional beef, and he is coming back against a foe unknown to most all here in the US. The Ghost will take on Japanese vet Yoshishiro Kamegai at Stub Hub Center in Carson, CA in a bout which will run on Showtime Saturday night.
Hall of Fame analysts Al Bernstein offered his take on what we should be on the lookout for when the welterweight Californian, last seen losing to Floyd Mayweather on May 4, 2013, and the 24-1-1 underdog from overseas clash.

Bernstein calls Kamegi “very tough,” and says the 31-2-1 (18 KOs) The Ghost, an ex champ at junior lightweight and featherweight, has been off for 13 months. This is his third fight at 147, and I expect him to not get too stressed in getting the W. Kamegai says the Japanese boxer is a skillful technician, who sometimes suffers concentration lapses.
His record tells us he has power, but the caliber of foes he’s face pale tremendously compared to Guerrero; his best win is up for debate. Both are 31 years old.
I expect the left-hand stance to bother Kamegai, for him to get touched with straight lefts from a man whose strength and ruggedness and seasoning will set him apart after a couple rounds. Guerrero’s intensity as a hitter, his desire to close the show, will be glaring, I do believe.
Readers, talk to me. Is there any way Guerrero looks past Kamegai, and we see a shocker upset?
