Tim Lane No Longer Thinks Mayweather Would Crush Pacquiao
It is all theoretical, until the timekeeper whacks the bell, and they get cracking.
Tim Lane thought Manny Pacquiao was solid, sure, more than solid, even.
He didn’t think his kid Chris Algieri would roll over The Congressman, he didn’t think he’d cruise control his way to a dominating win over the Filipino icon…but neither did he think Pacman would score six knockdowns and win most every minute of most rounds in their Nov. 22 scrap in Macau.
But now, now Lane knows better. He’s seen it, up close, painfully up close, in fact. And now, the tutor has found himself re-thinking a theory he’d been holding on to up till the night Manny did his thing, in true Pacmaniacal fashion, against the Long Islander.
“I thought that Floyd would crush Manny if they ever fought,” Lane told me, before admitting he thought it quite possible that possibility made Team Pacquiao hesitant to truly go after a Floyd fight. “But now, seeing him personally…Manny Pacquiao is a different guy in person. I watched so many of his fights, I thought we had a great plan set. He’s an A grade fighter, one of the best of his era. Manny Pacquiao is great.”
So yes, it’s safe to say Tim Lane doesn’t think Manny would get crushed by Floyd if and when they do make a deal to square off. Not in the least…
