So Floyd Has Been Hurting Sparring Partners…
So, word is that Floyd as been a beast in camp, offering free tattoos to sparring partners. Yeah, art work in the form of bruises, bumps, lumps, has them seeing stars. Freddie Roach has heard that; is he thinking that Floyd will be a less cerebral, and more visceral guy come May 2, that he will be looking to drop and stop Pacman?
“Stopping sparring partners is a good confidence builder,” the Massachusetts native, who won his 7th trainer of the year award from the BWAA, told me. “But can you do it in the fight? Unless it’s fight time, it doesn’t mean nothing. Listen, at his gym, Floyd is in his comfort zone. And he has to have everything his way. He’s not going to have his way on fight night!”
Roach isn’t buying that “Money” is going to show off a new brand of vicious at the MGM, sounds like. He told me that if anything, he expects Floyd to maybe be an off brand as compared to when his Uncle Roger is head trainer. No, Roach doesn’t think so highly of the talents of Floyd’s dad, who will be his chief second. “Floyd is a better fighter with Roger in his corner,” Roach said. “Senior tells everyone he’s the best trainer in the world…But Floyd trains himself.”
Readers, is it possible that Mayweather digs down, sets down on his shots, and goes after what he might think is a susceptible chin on the Congressman? Talk to me, in our Forum!
