Floyd-Judah Sparring Is Talk of the Town
Ah, the gamesmanship.
My guy is looking aces in camp. Oh, but my guy is looking like aces plus.
The salesmanship, the wording meant to convey to the world that their man is destined to have the camp of of his life and thus is that much more likely to get the W on May 2…
We heard that Manny looked sharp and was dialed in mentally last week from Freddie Roach, when he started sparring. Then, the one-upsmanship. Floyd Mayweathers’ Uncle Jeff told writer David Mayo of Michigan Live that Floyd was looking like a mini Liston in camp, and was a battering ram during with with ex champ Zab Judah.
“Just beat the (bleep) out of him,” Jeff Mayweather said to Mayo. “He beat Judah so bad, Judah was scared to let his hands go. Everybody was just hyped because they thought Judah was going to be something different, but Judah was worse than the other guys,” Jeff Mayweather continued to Mayweather. “It seemed like Floyd had something personal against him. He beat the (bleep) out of him. So then he quit, he let Judah off the hook, because Judah’s got a fight coming up and he messed his eye up…Floyd, he’s on a different level right now. It may be just his mind, and all the (B.S.) he’s been dealing with with Manny over the years. Obviously, he’s taken that in some kind of way, and I mean, he’s punishing these guys.”
Message: Different Floyd.
Message: Look out Manny.
Message: Floyd hasn’t stopped anyone aside from Victor Ortiz off what some see as a semi-sucker shot in 2011 since he stopped Ricky Hatton in 2007, but that could well change May 2.
Word on the street is Jeff regretted saying that stuff, maybe thought it wasn’t so on the record..and I can see why he might be shying away from the sharing from a respect perspective. Judah is a proud vet, and I could understand if he didn’t care for that stark assessment of his efforts. Mayo, I know him, and find him to be above reproach, just in case anyone is hinting anything there…
I reached out to Zab’s dad, Yoel, and he told me he isn’t with Zab in Vegas, he’s in NY, doing his thing, so he can’t speak to what’s going on in Floyd camp.
Freddie Roach heard about the critique, which, to be fair, did NOT come from Floyd, and said, “Manny would never say that about a sparring partner!”
I reached out to see if Floyd wanted to respond, maybe speak for himself on the matter and will insert that response if it arrives.
Judah soon after posted a snap of himself on a golf course, looking none the worse for wear and wrote that “if it don’t make sense don’t believe it,” which may have been a response to the critique. “Let em talk, just keep saying my name,” he continued, employing the Zsa Zsa Gabor adage.
But just remember, as you read this, and hear that, psychological ops are in effect, and so read and listen with a skeptical eye, because sometimes fights are won and lost before the bell rings, and wise hands know this, and thus, employ tactics to try and sway hearts and minds in the leadup to fights.
Follow me on Twitter and I promise not to pay too much attention to Ted Cruz for President and start ranting on that subject…
