Results From The MSG Theater – Crawford Blitzes Lundy
Crawford Blitzes Lundy – HBO Boxing was at New York City’s Madison Square Garden Theater this Saturday evening with a seven fight card headlined by the WBO World Super Lightweight bout between champion Terence Crawford and challenger Henry Lundy.
In the co-feature, highly touted Felix Verdejo found himself in a fight against Brazil’s William Silva. Both fighters came into the match with undefeated records, and though Verdejo was a huge favorite, Silva was determined to give as good as he got. Silva stayed in Verdejo’s grill throughout the fight, but in the end the judges gave Verdejo the comfortable unanimous decision.
In the main event, Hank Lundy came after Terence Crawford, challenging him and at time’s actually questioning his manhood. Though Lundy was able to make it a fight, Crawford’s class saw him pounce on Lundy when he broke through and hurt Lundy. Lundy hit the canvas in the fifth round, and when he got up, Crawford poured it on and got the referee’s stoppage.
For Crawford, the focus will now be the Manny Pacquaio versus Timothy Bradley match scheduled for April 9th. Crawford will be hoping for a Pacquaio win and a subsequent, big-money showdown with the Filipino superstar.
